Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Magellan Yacht Systems ("Magellan", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our software and website.

Information We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the Service:

• Account information: name, email, and password (hashed) when you create an account or subscribe.
• Payment information: processed entirely by Stripe. We never see your full card number — we only receive Stripe's customer ID and subscription status.
• Your vessel and operational data: the information you enter into the App (vessel records, crew records, voyage logs, maintenance schedules, etc.). This is encrypted in transit and at rest and stored on isolated databases keyed to your account.
• Device identifiers: a hardware fingerprint of each Mac you activate, used solely to enforce subscription device limits.
• App diagnostics: basic usage data (crashes, error reports) anonymized and used only for fixing bugs.

How We Use Information

• To provide and maintain the Service.
• To process payments through Stripe.
• To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, license keys, critical security or service updates).
• To respond to support requests.
• To improve the App through anonymized error reports.

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We don't use your vessel or operational data to train AI models or for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
• We don't access your account data unless you specifically request support that requires it (and we'll ask first).

Subprocessors

We use the following third-party services to operate Magellan. Each one sees only the data necessary for its function:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication. Your account data is stored here.
• Stripe — payment processing. They handle billing information; we never see card numbers.
• Keygen.sh — license activation and enforcement. They see your license key and the hardware fingerprint of your Mac.
• Vercel — hosting our backend API endpoints.
• Apple — for app distribution (notarization) and macOS system integrations.

Your Rights

You can:

• Access and export your data from inside the App at any time.
• Request deletion of your account by emailing privacy@magellanworks.com. Account deletion removes your data within 30 days, except where law requires retention (e.g., financial records for tax purposes).
• Correct or update account information through your account settings.
• Cancel your subscription at any time without explanation.

Cookies

magellanworks.com uses only essential cookies for site functionality. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies on the marketing site. The App itself does not use cookies.

Data Retention

Account data: retained while your subscription is active and for 90 days after cancellation, then deleted. You can export your data at any time during this window.

Billing records: retained for 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations.

Anonymized error reports: retained up to 1 year.

Children

The Service is intended for adult professional use and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

International Transfers

Our subprocessors may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States and European Union. Where required by law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures: TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, isolated per-account databases (Supabase Row- Level Security), and secret credentials stored in macOS Keychain on your Mac. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach occurs, we will notify affected users promptly and in accordance with applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email and on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
